Peter Popoff's Miracle Healing

Peter Popoff is a German-born U.S. televangelist who is known all over the world as a faith healer. In his message "10,000 Miles of Miracles" Popoff claimed that he was born during the World War II in a bomb shelter in Berlin. But according to other sources he was born in Hamburg in 1946.

Popoff's career of a prophet started when he began to state home addresses and illnesses of members of the audience. He persuaded people that such divine revelation was possible due to his God given abilities.

The revival meeting performed by Popoff on national television were known for laying on of hands. He managed to establish his ministry in Upland, California and it was funded through donations.

He was extremely popular in 1980s but still there were some skeptic groups that tried to debunk Popoff's "miracles" by handing out pamphlets. In defence he claimed that they were "tools of the devil".

Popoff's "miracle healings" were incredible. In front of the audience members and TV viewers he made wheelchair people stand up and walk. Thousands of believers were unaware of the fact that those "disabled" people were hired by Popoff to take part in his show.

Finally in 1987 a well-known skeptic Randi and his assistant Steve Shaw, managed to blow the lid off. They manifested that the Reverend Peter Popoff received his divine revelation through the wireless in-ear gadget. They discovered that Popoff's wife, Elizabeth and her aides had been talking to the members of the audience and gathered the information which later on was transmitted to Popoff via radio.

After Jason had revealed the videos of how Popoff was healing people on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson his popularity reduced dramatically.

Popoff tried to deny the imputation claiming that it was an actress hired by NBC impersonating Mrs. Popoff. But as he was pressed with questions, he finally admitted the fact that radio device had been used. Sixteen months after that show Popoff declared bankruptcy. 790 creditors had claims against him.

Despite of debunking and a great scandal, Popoff hasn't given up the desire to heal' people. He appears on TV with his new product called miracle spring water. He encourages people to call the number given on the screen and get a free bottle of the miracle spring water and a package of special salt.

People must follow the instructions given in the letter: the salt must be sprinkled over a check for $27 made out for Popoff; then you should drink the water and your miracle will come true in 5 days.

People still follow him, as they believe he is the one who will help them. Meanwhile Popoff owns a 2 million dollar house in California bought on the money sent from believers and drives a $100,000 dollar Porch.
